Threads of October 2025
Hey There, Quilting Friends!
Life Between the Stitches
Here we are again, welcoming another month! Honestly, I swear I just hit “publish” on the last blog post five minutes ago. How does time keep doing this thing where it blurs together faster and faster?
In the whirlwind of October, things at home were full in the best way. Somehow, Zoey turned 15, and I’m still wondering where the last fifteen years went that led up to this. We also continued one of our favorite family traditions, a trip to the Renaissance Festival. After such a busy September, it was nice to settle back into the rhythm of tradition and celebration, soaking up time with family and of course, Ruby.
Another highlight that completely melted my heart was winning the People’s Choice ribbon for “Mufasa” at the Virginia State Fair. Ribbons are always special, but this one felt like standing on the quilting version of an Olympic podium. Knowing that people chose it made me emotional in a way that’s hard to describe. I might have cried like Simba on Pride Rock.
And speaking of gratitude, I have to say how much your support has meant to me lately. With the ongoing government shutdown, I’ve been working for “free.99” at my day job, which is a terrible sale by the way. Some days it’s hard to walk into work knowing the paycheck fairy is on vacation, but your encouragement has been the bright spot that keeps me going. Whether you’ve joined the VIP group, watched a live, signed up for a class, sent a message, or simply shown up, it has meant the world.
Creating content for you all has been a kind of therapy for me. Those live streams, the laughter, and even the occasional thread chaos have helped me stay grounded. Thank you for being here, for cheering me on, and for reminding me why this community is so special. Truly.
October Projects & Sew-Alongs
This month, I decided to focus on completing one project throughout the entire month of live streams instead of juggling multiple at once. Every Friday night, we stitched away on the Haunted Halloween Mystery Quilt from Fat Quarter Shop. According to Tu-Licia, it has already found its forever home in what she lovingly calls “The SewBecca Museum.” (Admission is free, but candy is required.)
Working on the same project week after week gave the lives such a cozy, familiar rhythm. It felt like quilting with friends who always know when to hand you the scissors without asking. I loved that energy so much that we are doing it again in November. Every Friday night, we’ll be quilting through the Shifting Crystals pattern together. If you want to join the fun, you can grab your pattern and sew along with me!
New Video Recap: 7 Quilting Tools I Regret Buying
Over on YouTube, I finally spilled the tea on “7 Quilting Tools I Regret Buying,” mostly because I enjoy notions and testing then so you don’t have to. After years of quilting, longarming, and testing just about every gadget out there, I wanted to share the ones that didn’t quite live up to the hype for me.
We talked about Creative Grids rulers, Stripology, AccuQuilt, spray baste, chalk markers, Frixion pens, and even ironing boards. I went over what they promise, why people love them, and why they just didn’t click with my quilting style.
It’s not about bashing products. It’s about honest conversation and helping you spend your quilting dollars wisely. If one of these tools is your absolute favorite, that’s awesome. Quilting is deeply personal, and what doesn’t work for one person can be a total game-changer for another.
November Updates & BOM Announcement
A quick update for those following the Block of the Month program. The next block, originally planned for November 8, will now release on November 15. We are waiting on some fabric from Cotton Cuts, and I want everything to be perfect before it lands in your hands. I promise it will be worth the wait. And no, I am not hoarding the fabric for my own stash (probably).
Taking an extra week gives me time to make sure every piece shines the way it should. Thank you so much for your patience and for understanding that good things are worth the extra stitches.
Here’s to a new month filled with fabric, laughter, creativity, and the kind of chaos that only happens when you can’t find your seam ripper, even though it’s in your hand the whole time.
Thank you for being part of this wild, wonderful community. Your kindness, humor, and friendship remind me why quilting feels like home.
